VANI ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we handle information in the VANI application.
VANI does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. All data remains locally on your device.
No camera or storage permissions: VANI does not ask for access to your camera, photos or files. When you add a picture to a custom card, VANI opens Android's built-in photo picker, which shares only the images you select. Selected photos are copied into the app and stay on your device.
VANI can show vocabulary growth, sentence length, language milestones and daily habits. These figures are computed entirely on your device from how the app is used and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. You can clear this history at any time from within the app.
You may export a PDF progress report or CSV files, for example to share with a therapist. Exports are created only when you ask for them and leave your device only through the Android share or print screen you choose, so you decide who receives them.
You can optionally protect Settings with a 4-digit PIN. The PIN is stored only on your device in a hashed form and is never transmitted.
VANI automatically keeps a local backup of your cards, categories and settings on your device so your data is safe if the app is updated. You can also share a backup file using Android's share sheet, which sends it only to the app or person you choose.
Pictograms are by ARASAAC (arasaac.org), property of the Government of Aragón, and are used under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. They are bundled inside the app, so VANI does not download them or contact any server to display them.
VANI is designed for children with autism and special communication needs. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. All app data remains on the user's device.
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you maintain complete control over your information. We recommend using your device's security features (PIN, password, biometric lock) to protect your data.
VANI does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
